NFI glossary and dictionary

On this page you find the translations of woody species and of terms as well as their explanations (marked with yellow background), which were used in the NFI.

diversity (biodiversity), biological
The most frequent usage comprises the three aspects genetic diversity, species diversity and diversity of ecosystems. In practice this means virtually the entire living natural world.

[D] Vielfalt (Biodiversität), biologische
Die häufigste Verwendung umfasst die drei Aspekte genetische Vielfalt, Vielfalt der Arten und der Ökosysteme. Der Begriff steht damit praktisch gleichbedeutend für die Gesamtheit der belebten Natur.

[F] diversité biologique
L'acceptation courante englobe trois aspects: la diversité génétique, la diversité des espèces et celle des écosystèmes. La signification de ce terme correspond ainsi pratiquement à l'ensemble de la nature vivante.

[I] diversità biologica
Nell'accezione più comune sono compresi i seguenti tre aspetti: molteplicità genetica, specifica ed ecosistemica. Il concetto viene quindi usato come sinonimo per la totalità della natura vivente.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
