The value of long-term surveys such as those conducted by the NFI lies in the widespread use and publishing of data and results. The latest results are published on the internet (www.lfi.ch) every two to four years. The data is then available for projects in research and practice, either as raw data or special analyses (services). Forestry experts can find a series of posters for publicity work. Students and anyone interested in forests can take a virtual walk through the woods or watch a film about the NFI. At the forest and environmental policy level, the findings are applied in national and international forest reports. In spring 2015, the new National Forest Report will be published.
