On this page you find the translations of woody species and of terms as well as their explanations (marked with yellow background), which were used in the NFI.

  • high forest, selection type

    High forest with a stratified stand composition without the dominant stage of development (mixed stage of development) or with a single- or multi-layered composition with a clustered structure.
  • [de] Hochwald, plenterartiger
    Hochwald mit stufigem Bestandesaufbau ohne dominierende Entwicklungsstufe (Entwicklungsstufe gemischt) oder mit ein- bis mehrschichtigem Aufbau mit Rottenstruktur.
  • [fr] futaie d'aspect jardiné
    Futaie avec une structure étagée, sans stade de développement dominant (stade de développement mélangé) ou futaie à une ou plusieurs strates avec une structure par collectifs d'arbres.
  • [it] fustaia a struttura disetanea
    Fustaia con struttura stratificata senza uno stadio di sviluppo dominante (stadi di sviluppo misti) oppure con una struttura a uno o più strati per collettiv.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
