NFI glossary and dictionary

On this page you find the translations of woody species and of terms as well as their explanations (marked with yellow background), which were used in the NFI.

Permanent or temporary misuse of the forest area (according to Art. 4 WaG), even if the areas are unstocked, cf. Federal Law on Forests WaG).

[D] Rodung
Dauernde oder vorübergehende Zweckentfremdung des Waldareals (nach Art. 4 WaG), auch wenn es sich um nicht bestockte Flächen handelt, vgl. Waldgesetz (WaG).

[F] défrichement
Changement durable ou temporaire de l'affectation du sol forestier (selon l'art. 4 LFo), même s'il s'agit de surfaces non boisées, cf. Loi sur les forêts (LFo).

[I] dissodamento
Alienazione permanente o temporanea della vocazione di un'area boschiva (vedi art. 4 LFo), anche quando si tratta di superfici forestali senza copertura arborea, vedi Legge Forestale (LFo).

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
