On this page you find the translations of woody species and of terms as well as their explanations (marked with yellow background), which were used in the NFI.

  • production region

    Classification of Switzerland into the regions Jura, Plateau, Pre-Alps, Alps and Southern Alps according to their different conditions of growth and wood production.

    Gliederung der Schweiz aufgrund von unterschiedlichen Wuchs- und Holzproduktionsbedingungen in die Regionen Jura, Mittelland, Voralpen, Alpen und Alpensüdseite.
  • [fr] région de production
    Subdivision de la Suisse, sur la base des diverses conditions de croissance et de production du bois, en cinq régions :Jura, Plateau, Préalpes, Alpes et Sud des Alpes.
  • [it] regione di produzione
    Suddivisione del territorio svizzero sulla base di diverse condizioni di produzione legnosa e di incremento nelle seguenti grandi regioni: Giura, Altopiano, Prealpi, Alpi e Sud delle Alpi.

  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
