    Functions currently fulfilled wholly or partially by the forest (forest effects), or which the forest could potentially fulfill (potential forest effect) and should fulfill (social demand). The main forest functions are: protection from natural hazards, wood production and welfare (nature protection, recreation) (according to FOEN).

    Aufgaben, die vom Wald gegenwärtig ganz oder teilweise erfüllt werden (Waldwirkungen) oder erfüllt werden können (potentielle Waldwirkung) und erfüllt werden sollen (gesellschaftlicher Anspruch). Die wichtigsten Waldfunktionen sind Schutz vor Naturgefahren, Holzproduktion und Wohlfahrt (Naturschutz, Erholung) (BAFU 1996)

    Fonctions qui sont partiellement ou entièrement remplies par la forêt (effets de la forêt) ou qui pourraient (effets potentiels de la forêt) et qui devraient l'être (exigences de la société). Les principales fonctions de la forêt sont la protection contre les dangers naturels, la production de bois et la fonction sociale (protection de la nature, loisirs) (OFEFP 1996).

    Tutte gli effetti e le esternalità del bosco che vengono recepite come prestazioni in funzione delle esigenze della società. Funzioni attese di un bosco che possono essere svolte in toto o in parte (effetti del bosco) oppure che potrebbero essere svolte (effetti potenziali del bosco) o che dovrebbero essere svolte (esigenze della società). Le funzioni del bosco più importanti sono la protezione dai pericoli naturali, la produzione legnosa e quelle sociali (protezione della natura, ricreazione) (UFAFP 1996).
