The NFI is implemented by the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) in collaboration with the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). WSL is responsible for research and development, planning, data collection, analysis and scientific interpretation, while FOEN is responsible for political interpretation.
