On this page you find the translations of woody species and of terms as well as their explanations (marked with yellow background), which were used in the NFI.

management plan
Forestry handbook for planning which defines the general basic principles of operation and the spatial and temporal staging of all activities for a medium-term period (10 - 20 years).

[D] Wirtschaftsplan
Forstbetriebliches Planungswerk, welches für einen mittelfristigen Zeitraum (10 - ­20 Jahre) die allgemeinen Bewirtschaftungsgrundsätze und alle Tätigkeiten in ihrem räumlichen und zeitlichen Ablauf festlegt.

[F] plan d'aménagement/ de gestion
Ouvrage de planification de l'entreprise forestière qui détermine pour le moyen terme (10 à 20 ans) les principes généraux de gestion et toutes les activités dans leur déroulement spatial et temporel.

[I] piano di assestamento
Strumento pianificatorio elaborato a livello di proprietà forestale che definisce la distribuzione spaziale e temporale dei concetti generali di gestione e dell'attività d'impresa nel medio periodo (da 10 a 20 anni).

    TFW = Terminologie Forsteinrichtung/Waldinventur (Bick et al. 1994)
    WBö = Wörterbücher der Biologie. Ökologie (Schäfer und Tischler 1983)
    WT = Waldbauliche Terminologie (Brünig und Mayer 1980)
    Anl. LFI = Anleitung für die Feldaufnahmen der Erhebung 1993-1995 (Stierlin et al. 1994)
  • The German, French and Italien plant names were taken mainly from the book Die häufigsten Waldbäume der Schweiz or from the Flora Helvetica
  • The English plant names were taken form the internet (swiss web flora, PLANTS Database and Dictionary of Common Names by plantpress.com). The notations and abbreviations were taken from IPNI - The international Plant Names Index.
